Dear Dr Venter

From the moment I met you, I had the confidence I was in the very best hands. You and your staff do every possible means to ensure that I am prepared for every surgery, and follow up procedures. From dressing changes to tissue expander, I have never once felt uncomfortable having gone through Breast Reconstruction, at the age of 33 years, is a very big thing… emotionally, physically and mentally

I am proud to say, a year and half after my first surgery, I am grateful that you have helped me regain a chunk of my life, that I feared I would never get back!

Dr Marissa Venter did reconstructive surgery on me after my breast cancer treatment in 2017.Although aesthetics were not my priority Dr Venter is a perfectionist and my outcome was aesthetically very pleasing.Dr Venter gives 100% of herself and although it may seem biased I would say she is one of the best if not THE BEST plastic surgeon especially where breasts are concerned as she has worked so closely with the breast care centre.Thank you Dr Venter for making me smile again even though I went through the toughest time of my life.

Not only is Dr Venter a skilled surgeon, but she is one of the most caring and compassionate doctors I have ever met. Dr Venter had the horrible task of telling me that I have 2 choices – a full mastectomy or skin saving mastectomy. I opted for the latter and the dorsi flap operation was done in January 2017.

Dr Venter was an absolute Godsend! She was kind and gracious and treated me and my family with the utmost respect. She took the time to explain every detail of the operation and promised that I would have 2 normal looking breasts.  She kept her promise and I couldn’t be more pleased. She gave me back what cancer took away and it was comforting to finally feel a sense of normalcy once again.

Healing takes a while and the aspiration is a pain but all worth it in the end.  I have some numbness around the area that was operated on and a scar that is hidden but other than that I am perfectly normal and still have good use of my arm.

I was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer in December 2015. A year later I was in remission. This was all due to the amazing team of doctors. Dr Venter is an amazing person. She is extremely professional yet sympathetic and caring. She listened to all my concerns and answered all my questions putting me at ease. She provided me with detailed information on all the options available to me. I had a double mastectomy with a double Latissimo Dorsi Flap. I am extremely pleased with the outcome and results. I had no discomfort or pain within my healing period. Within 5 weeks I was back at work. I would like to say thank you to Dr. Venter and her superb team. I have and would highly recommend you.

The time that I was under Dr. Venter was a time in my life that I will certainly not forget, I at all times knew exactly where I was at and what the following steps would be. Having been diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016, I consulted with Dr Venter to perform a breast reconstruction after it became clear that I required a mastectomy. I met Dr Venter in September 2017 after my breast was burned by Chemo Therapy in May 2017. After the burning I was admitted to a certain hospital with no much progress. By then my breast was Heavy, dark, swollen and experiencing an unbearable shooting pains. I used to cry every day especially at night. I went to a Professor who referred me to Dr M Venter. Dr Venter was always there for me from the beginning till, she still here for me even now. She operated me several times to fix the mess that somebody has created. She treated me as if I was her only patient. She did not give up on me even though it was too difficult, she was always positive and encouraging me not to give up. She referred me to relevant departments, she really fought for my wellbeing. I still remember always when I was in theatre, she would call my husband to update him about my condition. Today my husband and I we see Dr M Venter as our Friend and family member. Thank you Dr Venter for treating me like one of your own sister. I suffered for a long time (for+- a year) but, you have been always there for me and my husband. Today I am totally healed. Your humility, love, dedication towards your job, smile and honesty is everything that every patient needs. You were always honest with me. Those hugs, I still remember. You are the best doctor ever.

Dear Dr Venter

In 2017  I was diagnosed with cancer and had to have a double mastectomy on the 7^th March2017. Dr Venter was the plastic surgeon, to do the delayed re-construction surgery planned for 2018. Dr Venter was always considerate and open to any question that I had, ensuring that the whole process was understood by my husband and I. The operation was performed at the excellent Busamed Modderfontein Hospital. Dr Venter ensured that I was well cared for and closely checked on my recovery before discharging me. The follow-up of the expansion treatment (saline injections) every third week  for three months was well-executed . Dr Venter’s friendly and open-to-communicate manner and ensuring the participation of the presence of my husband at critical times during the process, made my experience much more accepting and understandable to all family members.

I tell everyone that I meet that if you need a doctor to perform breast surgery or reconstructive surgery on you, then you need to make sure that you get the best in the business. That is indeed what Dr Marisse Venter is. She is simply an amazing doctor with the will and eye for perfection and at the same time a very compassionate and caring doctor. She takes her roll very serious and knows what is expected. I trust Dr Venter unconditionally and she has proven why I do so. She has given me the reason to want to look good and feel feminine again.
